Kids Pizza Making Class | The Island | Various dates throughout April

The Island’s school holiday pizza making classes are back for Good Food Month! Hosted by The Island’s Pizza Maestro, kids will be taken through the whole fun process of pizza making. Stretching, kneading, adding sauce and toppings of their choice, then eating their very own pizza. They’ll even look the part, wearing their own self-decorated mini chef hats!

The Island will be giving away one lucky door prize at each class, plus a juice on arrival for the kids and one tea or coffee for the parent/guardian. Parents are requested to stay on-site while the kids make their own pizzas – but The Island will be doing all the cleaning up afterwards!

From Noma to Nashville: Belles and Drasko’s Make Hot Chicken | The Raft | 21 April

Hot damn! If the young ones love getting their hands dirty and don’t mind a hit of spice with their meals – then this is the perfect event! The family can relish in some hot chicken in this battle of the best Southern-inspired dining, served up to you at sunset on Good Food Month’s floating restaurant, The Raft.

You may have tasted Perth-local Drasko Jankovic’s wings at Drasko’s Hot Chicken. He opened the store after a chance encounter while he was working at Copenhagen’s famous restaurant, Noma. It was there that he met Morgan McGlone of the fried chicken empire, Belles Hot Chicken (Melbourne and Sydney) who was in town at the invitation of Noma’s owner, Rene Redzepi. It was a chance encounter that inspired Drasko so much, he decided to go to Nashville himself to learn the art of Southern fried chicken!

So if you and the kids love some hot fried chicken, you couldn’t get two more talented chefs to fire up the grills. Book now so you don’t miss out on this fun dining event.

Mitch Orr’s Festa di Famiglia | The Raft | 22 April

If there’s one thing all families can agree on, it’s that pasta is always a winner at the dinner table! Parents can take the night off when Sydney’s Prince of Pasta, Mitch Orr, is in town. He’ll be treating eaters of all ages to a few courses of absolutely delicious pasta (with matched wine and beer for parents).

Mitch’s Festa di Famiglia is being held in Good Food Month’s floating open-air restaurant; The Raft. Anchored, the restaurant will float on the scenic Swan River where everyone can enjoy the water and Perth city views at sunset.

Mitch’s Sydney restaurant, ACME (now closed) was famous for his favourite riff on the classic carbonara; using macaroni, pig’s head and egg yolk pasta. He’s worked in some of Sydney’s highest-profile kitchens including Pilu at Freshwater and Sepia, and he also did a stint at Italy’s famous Osteria Francescana – twice rated the world’s best restaurant in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants List. For a pasta the whole family will love – this is the chef to come to!

Tickets have now sold out for this event.
